Friendly Freet & Ta-Ta Tubers

In-between jobs and not having luck on my job search I started sketching absentmindedly at my computer and found myself with a goofy apple smiling back at me. I drew the apple a friend - the banana. A friend saw the sketches, I drew a few more and more people saw them and liked them. It wasn't until I had stickers of them made for gifts that I realized their potential, packaged them as the Friendly Freet, and stopped by skate shops or other local goods stores to pitch selling them. It wasn’t a fast process, but eventually I pitched successfully and one of the stores to carry them was The Regal Find. The store that led me to designing the branding for the D.M.B.A., which led me to having confidence to start my design career. The leaps forward in my confidence, my ability to speak with clients and pitch ideas, to trust my design skills - it all started with a goofy apple. It meant so much to me that I had a pumpkin version of myself tattooed on my shoulder, mimicking a sticker peeling off of me.
